2018 journal

I’m back!

I’ve been journaling since last year. It helps me a lot in many ways and it’s one of the reasons why I’m often offline. I did art back in elementary school and I remember the feeling that I’ve experienced back then. As an adult, that feeling turned into doubt and I’ve had a hard time processing it. Now, I’m doing art again for fun and I’ve been doing this for a while. I’ve learnt a lot in the process and I’m helping myself reveal my artistic side of things.

I’ve printed some stickers and pretty things to include in my journal. I admit, I’m not that artistic. I get help from the internet and I do things from there. Having a printer is a plus. You can search some art inspiration online like I do. I mostly search images on Pinterest that inspires me, I sometimes recreate them if I’m not too lazy and my self confidence is not too low that moment. There are a lot of creative people there and they make me happy.

I’ve bought some stamps and they add some vintage vibe on my journal. I’m aiming for minimal but sometimes I tend to overdo but I don’t care as long as I like what I see and it made me happy. I also like to paste some dried flowers just because.

One of the best things to do while journaling is to listen to some good music. Each of us have a different taste in music, which helps us concentrate and feel good. As for me, I like to listen to some indie pop at the moment. The acoustic and ukulele vibe just gets to me while doing stuff.

You can find inspiration everywhere. The best thing about these is that there is no right or wrong. You can make your art just the way you like and it may also be the reflection of you as a person, if you’re ready to spill yourself on paper. You will see your artistic progress throughout the year and you may go back to some specific day of your life and reminisce.

Just grab your spiral notebook and pink-inked pen and write away!

Note To Self by Connor Franta

Hello, you wonderful humans!

I’m sorry I was gone for more than a week, I was busy adulting. Anyway, I finally finally got the Note To Self book by Con and I couldn’t contain myself. Connor Franta is a YouTuber, author, photographer and an entrepreneur. I love him to bits, I liked him even more when I started to read his books and even just by reading, you can sense his personality s l o w l y.

This book is a memoir and like many other books that I read, this one is very interesting. It’s a combination of essays, poetry and original photography.

THE COVER

It. Is. Beautiful. I love flowers so much and seeing one on a book cover is a plus when I select books to read. It is so pleasing to the eye, very minimal and it tells so much in just a simple photo. The fonts used are pretty as well and the color combination of everything in the front is overall inviting.

THE CONTENT

I just realized that poetry, short essays and photography when combined is a whole other thing, an interesting one and I liked it. Connor’s writing feels familiar, it also felt like I was the one who wrote the book because it is simple and straightforward. I liked his essays the most, it somehow made me get close to him like in an intimate way but through his writing. There are sad chapters which I also like but felt sad right after reading, and there are happy ones that just lighten me up and makes me wanna read it over and over again.

I love reading poems and I was surprised that he writes poems too. He usually tweets them but reading his words through paper and ink is different. He usually matches the poem with a photo that I’m guessing that he took and you guessed it, I’m a HUGE fan of his photography. He has an eye for beautiful things around and I wish I could see the surroundings like he does because his photos always turn out really well, it always takes my breath away (don’t tell him I said that).

I loved this book and I hope I could meet Connor one day and thank him, hug him and cry in front of him and maybe have a selfie after I ugly cry.

I’m so proud of him and I look forward to reading more books by him in the future. 💌

Words Are Magic

Whether the musicians or scientists said it, words and quotes have always been one of life’s greatest gifts. Understanding words have always been very difficult. I, myself enjoy reading and quotes always stay with me. I like them written on my journal, on my wall or in any notebook I have because whenever I read them, I remember what journey I had when I read that book or what song I listened to at that moment.

I know about not less than a thousand songs in my head. I’ve read a lot of books and poems and it is amazing how those words are stored in my mind. I’ve also been called a lot of things in my 22 years of existence and it just shows that not all words are perfect. However, having read and understand a lot of lyrics from songs gave me a boost. Even a simple “Stay Alive, For Me” helped me through my days and mostly nights.

Words are complicated but there’s beauty in them too. They have this magic that you never knew you needed. You’re having a bad day or having the time of your life? There’s always quotes for those. There’s also this specific sentence that just sums up your life, well, maybe not entirely but you know what I mean.

I love quotes. I may not make one as good as the ones that I know but I can always use them and make many mistakes with them. What’s important is that they stay. Words are wonderful. They’re not all good but they’re also not all bad.

Did a quote just magically appear into your head?
